Ok. So in true Roach family style, we are on another eipc adventure this summer. There are so many legs to our journey that I thought that I would do the journaling in shifts. We started out on our trip on June 30th. We decided that while it was CRAZY to even contemplate traveling by plane with two babies, it was even CRAZIER to rent a van and drive across this great land of ours. So, we bought the tickets and boarded the plane. First though, you have to hear about who we are flying with. My uncle Greg got wind of this new airline called Skybus which has $10 tickets if you fly to their selected cities. They fly out of Greensboro, Columbus, and Kansas City. Three of our destinations. Sign us up! Oh, one thing. The seats are 2 inches smaller than normal planes, you have to pay $5 for each bag you take with you, ect.... Still worth a try for 10 bucks! So we drive to Greensboro and park our cars. We packed as lightly as possible, because remember $5 per bag per leg of the trip! You should have seen us getting out of the car. We had 3 suitcases, 2 carseats, a pack and play, and 3 backpacks and my purse pushing two strollers and two kids!!! It was the funniest thing that I have ever seen. If I had a spare hand I would have taken a picture. We check in and all is well. When you fly Skybus out of most selected cities you actually board and deplane from the tarmak! We are lucky though to have these children because you get to board first (well 2nd-after the people who pay $10 EXTRA to have priority boarding---HYSTERICAL!) Anyway, for some reason we sat on the tarmak waiting to leave for an hour! We finally get to Columbus one hour late. Because skybus is small and they only have 4 planes in their fleet, they haven't quite hopped on the connecting flight bus yet. So that means we land in Columbus run to baggage claim, get all of our bags, car seats....yada yada yada hop on the elevator and go back upstairs and re check in, get new boarding passes, go back through security...take off shoes, pour out sippy cups, backpacks, the whole nine yards, and then all of us running through the terminal to catch the next skybus plane to Kansas City. It was crazy! It seriously was like a scene from the Amazing Race for crazy parents and grandparents traveling with two children! We landed in Kansas City to find Uncle Greg (the mastermind behind us all flying Skybus) there to pick us up. It was great! I would reccommend anyone to fly it. You have to pay for lots of extras like snacks and a drink but overall it was really cheap for us to fly. We went to Kansas not only to visit my aunt and uncle but also to attend the North American Christian Convention. It was a great time but deserves another post. So here are our Skybus pictures! Toddler Town and NACC blog to come next in part 2!
