Leather Couch

So when we moved into our house and needed more furniture, we decided to buy a nice leather sofa and chair. We figured it would be more durable with two very little kids (we didn't know Lily was even a possibility at this point). It would be easier to clean and would possibly last longer. One thing that I didn't realize is that unlike my other couch cushions, when Lucy takes a pen to it, I can't take the cushion cover off and wash it. So, this morning when I noticed Lucy, pen in hand, had drawn all over all three of my cushions on the leather sofa, I didn't know what to do. I got the cleaning wipes out that we bought when we got the sofa. Didn't even work...it just made the pen and cushion a little shinier. So what did I do? I got on the internet of course! Surely there are other moms out there that have had the same thing happen to them. You wouldn't believe the number of websites I found that have Moms on them saying that they had a two year old write on their leather couch! There are lots of ideas out there that will get ink out of a sofa. I however, have the only right answer. You may hear that these will work. Rubbing Alcohol...nope! Cologne...NOPE (and it took the color of the couch too). The other one I saw on the internet that made me nervous was to try hairspray. I was so scared it would ruin the cushion. I decided to call the service department where I bought the furniture to see if they had any ideas. He said I had to be careful but the only thing that would work was hairspray! I couldn't believe it. I had pretty much decided that I would be calling the furniture store to order three new cushions for my couch because it wouldn't work to get it out or I would ruin the cushions trying. But guess what?? It WORKED!!!!!!!! I still have a little work to do but for the most part it is gone. It is SO much fun being the mommy of these little ones. They always keep me on my toes and right now, all I can think is to write Al Gore a letter and thank him for inventing the internet. What would we do without it?
