Friday was Lily's first birthday. I can't believe it has been a whole year since she joined our family! I am having a difficult time with this birthday. I am excited because I know that one year brings a whole new stage of life. But I am SO sad over it too. I am sure it is because I know that Lily is our last baby and we won't have another baby in the house. It is also a weird feeling because when Eli and Lucy each turned one, I was pregnant and had a baby coming in 4 months! This time, I don't! The reason the title of this blog is Happy Birthday part one, is because we are having her official birthday party next Saturday the 21st. So Friday night, after supper, we had a small family party because she had to have cake on her official birthday, right? We also took Lily to the doctor on Friday for her one year check up. She weighs 19 pounds and 7 ounces. She is 29 1/4 inches long. At the appointment, she also showed her true Diva self. She tends to be quite a Drama Queen when things don't go according to how she thinks they should. She was not keen on the nurse, even before all of the shots! She screamed so loud, voicing her disapproval! The reason I mention all of this is because of her display in her birthday video. We were all singing to her and she tried to tip the whole plate of cake over. I grabbed it right before it went off the side of her tray. Then she went straight for the candle. At first we thought she burned her finger but as soon as I turned the camera off she stoped crying and started eating the cake. Now we think that she was crying because I took her hand away and she really wanted that candle! Anyway, it was a fun family party and we are looking forward to the big party next Saturday!
Happy Birthday, Lily!
First singing!
Forget the singing, let's eat cake!

Oh my goodness...I can't believe that Lily is already 1!! It is just amazing how quickly the time goes, isn't it! I loved the video of Lily shoveling in the cake. I was cracking up- so cute!! I also am amazed at her weight and height...Jonathan is not far behind her at 4 months!!! I miss you, Jules! I need to try to call you sometime soon! Give Lily a big hug from us (and Eli and Lucy too!!). Love you guys!
