It's Official

There were times when I didn't think we would make it. For the first time in a long time I have felt like I had my hands in too many things and that I was burning the candle at both ends. Like I was doing too much. Several months ago, our senior minister's wife approached me about playing my violin in her daughter's upcoming wedding with a couple of other people from church. They were two girls that I didn't know. Maud plays the violin and viola and Diane plays the cello. We started to get to know each other better by first playing in the worship band and then we started to meet to plan the music for the wedding. The more we played, the more we had fun together. I mentioned to the girls that we should consider going into business. We could all use the extra cash! It took about 12 hours and it was in place. It absolutely snowballed into something bigger than I ever imagined! We had a name, we had business cards, now we just needed some gigs. For the next two months we practiced together for 4 hours at a time one night a week. Even up to the week of the wedding, I didn't think we would make it. Things just didn't feel like they were falling into place and I was afraid that after all of this work it wouldn't come together. Saturday rolled around and it couldn't have been more perfect. We played beautifully! We sounded like professionals. I haven't played like this in a long time. I haven't had fun playing like this in a long time. It was so much fun. It was like watching the last 24 years come together. I have always just played for the love of it. I couldn't make it work as a major let along a profession so I always felt like I didn't use my gift to the fullest. Now, I can see the culmination of all my hard work and dedication to this instrument coming to life. So if you are local, and know of any special events, weddings or parties that need a string trio, you know who to call. We are called the Aevia Trio. Here we are!

What Does Aevia Mean?
Aevia. An abbreviation for alleluia consisting of its vowels (v representing u), sometimes used in manuscripts of liturgical chant. How did we come up with the name? Maud looked through The New Harvard Dictionary of Music to find something that had meaning and was "pretty". We thought this was a great word to describe what we are doing; playing with joyful praise to God for the talents he has given us. As best put by Johann Sebastian Bach “The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.”

Jules, that is AWESOME!! Congratulations! Now, can we just go back in time and have you play for my wedding? That is always going to be my 1 regret of my wedding...that I didn't figure out a way to have you be my "Matron" of honor (I know how much you love that word) and play your violin!! Boo!!!
Love and Miss you!!!

Juli...this is so cool! When Blake and I got engaged, I almost asked you to play at my wedding, but I didn't know if you still played or not. I am so excited for you! My sister will probably be getting engaged soon, so I will have to fill her in! (And tell her to tell all her friends too!)
Congratulations!
