Best Snow Day...EVER!!!

Lily had enough of sledding. We stayed warm in the van watching movies while the big kids were sledding more.
Getting warm on the way back to the house. Look at those cute pink cheeks and nose!

The girls played dress up literally non-stop all night Sunday night and all day Monday. They were SO cute and love being together!

Aaron and our friend, Brian. The boys liked playing on their computers!

Eli had a BLAST!
So, for the last week or so the weather has been predicting a major snow storm to hit our area. Sunday, I was talking to my good friend Stacy about the predicted event. Since it snowed after Christmas, we wanted to get a sled for the kids to use but never got around to it. Being that Stacy and her husband James moved here from Indiana, I knew they had a sled. We were talking about how we should get together and hang out for the snow day and sled together. The more we talked, the bigger it began to get. We decided that because the storm wasn't expected until 6 am on Monday morning, that it would be better for us to spend the night and get snowed in. So, Sunday afternoon and evening, Aaron and I packed up all of our belongings. It was a TON!! Remember, school hadn't been called off yet so we had to pack two sets of things, a set of things for a snow day and a set of things for a work day. We got over there for dinner. We had James and Stacy and their three kids Lars, Eli and Anisa. Then we had our friends Brian and Katie (James and Stay's neighbor) plus Aaron and I and our three kids. It was crazy but SO fun!!! We had homemade soup and chili. The kids played while the adults talked and hung out. Then we put the kids to bed and watched This is It. The Michael Jackson movie. The funny thing about Sunday night was that we still didn't know if we were having school or not and we stayed up until 1 am. The even funnier thing was that we all spent New Years Eve together and none of us made it to midnight! We were all home in our respective beds well before midnight. Finally at 1 am I HAD to go to bed. In the wee hours of the morning, I received a text message letting me know that school was canceled. We woke to a winter wonderland of 4 or more inches of snow. It continued to snow non-stop all day Monday. Stacy and I made a huge breakfast and then we got all bundled up and drove out to Charlotte Motor Speedway. They have tons of hills around the track and they are perfect for sledding. We had a ball. We came home and continued to play, Stacy and I made hair bows for the girls, and all of the adults had a bowling tournament on the wii. Around 5 pm on Monday, the snow began to turn to sleet and freezing rain and we knew we had to get home. We sadly packed up our things and made the trek (just a few short miles) home. As we were reflecting on the two days, Aaron said, "this was the best snow day I can remember since I was a kid!" And I would have to agree. What a wonderful time. The exciting thing is that we have another snow day tomorrow that we can enjoy again tomorrow!! Yay for snow and the best snow day ever!
