The plan had been to carve our mommy and daddy pumpkins the day after we painted the kids' pumpkins. Unfortnately, that didn't quite happen. My days at school turned into 12 hour days to accommodate parent teacher conferences and time for carving pumpkins, we couldn't find. So we waited until this past weekend to get busy on the pumpkins. We will be attending a fall festival at Wings of Eagles Ranch this year on Halloween, so our kids won't be dressing up, trick or treating or even handing out candy in our neighborhood, so we wanted the pumpkin carving time to be a big thing for Eli and Lucy. It was raining so we headed down to the garage to do all the carving. Lily sat in her high chair and slept the whole time. Of course, all of the exciting things in the garage are much more exciting than pumpkins. So, we decided that we would attempt to carve their favorite characters Dora and and Diego into the pumpkins. I found a website that had templates for all of the Noggin characters that our kids love. Dora seemed fairly easy but Diego's template looked HARD! So we decided to choose another easy character, Pablo from Backyardigans. When we got the template on, his head was too big, it wouldn't fit on the pumpkin so we had to settle for Swiper the Fox from Dora. I have had a ceramic pumpkin filled with candy corn in our house, so Eli has come think that all pumpkins have candy inside. So when we started to carve the pumpkins, he was not crazy about the smell and feel of the pumpkin guts and seeds. So Aaron and I found ourselves doing the pumpkins alone! They took a long time, but they really turned out great! Happy Halloween!
