Determining Importance

Wow!  Common Core is sure changing things up, isn't it!?!  I am really excited about the new common core standards and expecting my students to go deeper into topics and increasing the rigor!

So next week, my class and I will be diving into Determining Importance within non-fiction texts.  I found this great idea from Life in 4 B.  I am getting really excited to try some great activities with my kiddos.  To get started, I made this cute little cut and paste activity to start the discussion.  I will use it as a partner activity to discuss why they chose to put these items in the categories they did.
